PRINCIPAL UPDATE

Welcome back to Term 2.  I hope you enjoyed a fabulous break and time spent with family and friends over the break. I enjoyed spending time in Anglesea which is always relaxing.

We have welcomed Jacqui Anderson to the staffing team this term, she is teaching in Grade 5 and has joined us from Malvern Primary School in Melbourne.  Please make her welcome. We also welcome Sue, an Inclusion Outreach Coach who is with us one day a week, working with staff around how to use data to effectively differentiate to support individual learning needs.

Congratulations again to the school community for the outstanding result of Chilwell Fair this year.  Looking forward to using these funds to enhance our specialist programs and learning environment here at school.

We had a busy week last week with Grade 3-6 Athletics and District Cross Country.  Thank you to Amy and Matt for their organisation along with all parent and past student volunteers on the day.  We have a large number of students successfully going on to the Regional Cross Country in the coming weeks.

Thank you to Steph Walsh and Grade 6 for a very special ANZAC service two weeks ago.  It was a wonderful way to reflect and remember our fallen soldiers and what they sacrificed in war.  Our singers' tribute was so moving along with students running such a impactful service for our community.

Don’t forget to remain aware of important dates in the calendar this term. Important dates to remember being Kings Birthday Public Holiday on Monday 9th June, and Curriculum Day (Pupil Free) on 10th June.

Taking on board feedback from parents in the School Review last year, we have introduced a trial of ‘Parent Teacher Interviews’ in Week 5 of this term, held on the afternoon of Wednesday 21st May. The aim of these interviews is to inform parents how students are travelling, what they are excelling in and areas for development, or how you can support at home.  Parents will then receive their child’s report at the end of the term, further outlining their academic achievements.  Appointments for this are open on Compass Parent Portal, and these will be for 10 minutes only.  Families of students that have Student Support Group meetings will not be required to make a meeting time.  If you require assistance with making a booking on Compass, please contact Amber or Jacquie in the Office.

It is now time for parents to complete enrolment forms for students commencing Prep in 2026. Enrolment forms are on our website and we require that they are completed and emailed through to the Chilwell.ps@education.vic.gov.au email.  Completing this will support us in ascertaining numbers for the 2026 school year.  Tours are also commencing this week and are able to be booked from our website via CompassTix.

Kind regards,

Meg
