Foundation

Dear Families,

On Thursday, our Foundation and Year 1 students presented at our whole-school assembly. The Foundation children shared where their families are from as part of our My Story, Our Story Inquiry unit. They also did the most beautiful job singing with Marty!

Speaking in front of an audience is a skill we’re focusing on this term. Our whole-school assembly, along with our weekly Show and Tell sessions, provides a fantastic opportunity for the children to practise speaking clearly, using an appropriate voice level and building their confidence when speaking in front of others.

A big well done to all our Foundation students! We are so proud of you.

We hope you have a lovely weekend. See you in Week 4!

Year 1

Hi Families,

Another fab-boo week has been enjoyed in Year 1! 👻

We have begun our new Inquiry unit, Then and Now, and discovered some old newspapers from 1976 featuring Sacred Heart School and our church. The children had a wonderful time recreating a photograph of the school children featured in the newspaper. I hope you enjoy seeing our recreation! You will also see the different topics we will be exploring throughout this unit, along with our very own time capsule.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Year 2

HELLO Families,

This week was the start of our Inquiry adventures back in time, with our collection of baby photos. We started to collected things we'll put into a time capsule and reopen in future years to come. We celebrated Elena's birthday. Elena and Emmet received an award at Assembly time. Pokemon cards and Magic Mondays are gripping  our class with excitement. Looking ahead we have our Prayers in Pjamas next week, and in November, a long weekend and an excursion to the Melbourne Museum. We will post 3 of our baby photos each week, will you be able to guess?!“ Never stop thinking ''Curiosity is the key that unlocks new adventures.” Enjoy your weekend ahead.

Year 3/4

On Tuesday our 3/4 students travelled by tram to visit the Melbourne Museum! As part of our Inquiry unit, 'What is the history of Australia?', we visited the First Peoples Gallery and the Milarri Garden.  Students were able to explore how First Nations Peoples have cared for Country and the importance of land, waterways, plants, animals, culture and community. We learned how native plants were used everyday as food, medicine, tools and materials. Experiencing the Creation Cinema and watching the story of Bunjil and Waa was very moving. We definitely recommend everyone visit!

Other highlights of the day were visiting the Bugs Alive!, Triceratops exhibition, Our Wondrous Planet, the scary house and enjoying our lunch together outside at the park.

Thank you to Marty, Rebecca, Maddy and Cettina for joining us on the day.  We hope you enjoy the photos from our excursion.

Have a lovely weekend,

Year 5/6 M and Year 5/6 J

Year 5/6 students all set to go and explore famous Melbourne City landmarks on a beautiful, sunny Friday morning. Traveling by public transport, students navigated the hustle and bustle of Melbourne’s CBD, putting their independence, teamwork, and civic knowledge into practice. They toured key city highlights, from the serene green expanses of the Fitzroy Gardens and onto the classic architecture of Flinders Street Station, to the monumental steps of the Victorian Parliament House. Students handled city crossings and tram connections with maturity and enthusiasm. Look out for student recounts in our next school newsletter!

Scintillating Slurpies with no Burpies!

Students sit silently sipping Slurpies,

On a super, sunny, spring day.

Smiling students say, ‘spectacular sweet Slurpies!

Such a sensational, smooth, surprising scene!

Chloe, Raffaele and Milad: This past Wednesday, Marie surprised us with Mango Slurpies because we had reached another 30 counters in our jar. We were in Music when Marie and Prem appeared at the door with two tubs full of Slurpies! Everyone said, ‘Wow, pow-pow, pow, pow, pow-pow!’ And then we happily slurped on our Slurpies on such a hot sunny day, and no one needed to do any blurpies!
