Impact Learning Portal
Michael Llewellyn, Impact Learning Coordinator
As a student progresses through school, they learn through a wide variety of experiences. These include the classes they attend, the interactions they have with their peers and teachers, the discussions they have around the dinner table or when they get help with homework from friends and family members.
At Donvale Christian College, we also encourage participation in a range of extra-curricular experiences outside the classroom to help develop skills and extend students in areas of interest and passion. These activities include clubs, competitions, and sports teams.
Currently at DCC, there are around 90 different activities being offered, and we are regularly adding to this list. Navigating the different options can be daunting, so we created the Impact Learning Portal to help students and parents easily see what is available depending on their interests.
On the Impact Learning Portal, you can search according to Year Level, subject area, or by the learning capability you are looking to develop. On each activity page, you will find a description of the activity, along with instructions on how to get involved and the contact details of the teacher in charge.
Some of these activities run outside of school hours, or require students to register, so the page will contain instructions how to do this.
For example, the Computational and Algorithmic Thinking competition runs in May this year. Checking the Impact Learning Portal page shows that students can register by talking to their Maths teacher, and that a Schoolbox News announcement will be sent out when registrations open.
With so many opportunities available, our hope is that there is something on the Impact Learning Portal to match the interests and passions of every student, or perhaps, help them to discover a new passion along the way!
