Book Week 2026

Book Week is fast approaching! The Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) has chosen the theme Symphony of Stories for this year's Book Week, which runs from 22nd August to 28th August. We have many exciting events to enjoy as we celebrate books and reading.
Author and Illustrator Visits
In August, the children will have the opportunity to meet and learn from some of Australia's renowned authors and illustrators.
Morris Gleitzman - Author
Our Year 5/6 students will commence Book Week a little early with a visit from author Morris Gleitzman, on Tuesday 11th August at 9:30 am. The children studied one of his amazing books last term, called Once, which focuses on World War 2.
Lucinda Gifford - Author and Illustrator
Our Prep to Year 4 students will begin celebrating Book Week on Friday 21st August with a visit from Lucinda Gifford, who is both an author and illustrator. We have been exploring many of her books during Library sessions this year. A particular favourite of Lucinda’s books is Valerie: Australia’s Bravest Sausage Dog which is inspired by the incredible true story of a sausage dog that went missing on Kangaroo Island for many months.
Families have the opportunity to pre-order Lucinda's books if they wish through The Little Book Room. Simply click on the link below.

Jo Dabrowski - Author
On Friday 28th August all of our students will participate in a session with Jo Dabrowski who is a local author. Jo has two books shortlisted for the CBCA awards this year: Dear Broccoli and The Thing About Christmas so we have our fingers crossed that she wins a prize.
Families have the opportunity to pre-order Jo's books if they wish. Simply click on the link below. The ordered books will be delivered to Corpus Christi prior to Jo's visit ready for her to sign on the day. All orders must be completed by Friday 14th August.

Andy Griffiths - Author
I recently entered a competition hoping to win a visit from renowned author Andy Griffith and I’m very excited to announce that Andy will visit Corpus Christi on Thursday 27th August! Andy’s Treehouse series and Just series are very popular and very well read!
So along with our traditional Book Week Parade on Monday 24th August at 9:00 am we have many wonderful experiences coming up.
We are looking forward to celebrating Book Week.
Happy reading!
