Message from the Principal

St Peter’s School - an empowered faith community to enrich the world.

Welcome to Term 3 Week 5

Half way through a busy term! How quickly time is going! Students are very excited about their performances in the concert. Don't forget to buy your tickets!

We also have Book Week to look forward to. See our Learning and Teaching page for details.

Feast of the Assumption

Saturday 15 August is a holy day of obligation for Catholics as we celebrate the assumption of

Mary, who was without sin, and taken, body and soul, into the glory of heaven. Please read  'Our Faith Journey' for a family reflection.

I share with you one of my favourite hymns:

Congratulations

Opening the Doors Foundation

The weather was not on our side last week as we participated in a much shorter walk than planned to mark the birthday of the Opening the Doors Foundation. Thank you to those students who came in the colours of red, black and/or yellow and/or provided a gold coin. We raised $124.00 towards this initiative of increasing awareness for reconciliation.

I was privileged to attend a day at Avila College with our Year 6 leaders, Mrs Mihalicek and Ms Rashida last week.

It was a great opportunity for us to deepen our thoughts on how we can spread the reconciliation message throughout our community. We had time to brainstorm and our Year 6 leaders have some wonderful ideas of how, as a FIRE Carrier school, we can live out our values of inclusion and respect.

Stay posted!

On the 4th of August the Year 6's went to Avila College by bus. We arrived by 9:30 and we got warm greetings from the Year 12 students with some goodies that they handmade for us. We were the first school there. After all the rest of the schools arrived, the leader of the FIRE Carriers told us what the schedule was for the day. We first went to have an art lesson with Skyla, a first nations artist. There Skyla showed us some first nations symbols and we drew the symbols on the boomerang template with oil pastels and then we painted over them with watercolours. We then had a forum with the leader of the FIRE carrier, where we spoke about fundraising ideas and how to promote reconciliation in our school. (Year 6 Leaders)

Building update

Thank you for your patience and understanding as the building works have continued. The inside of the learning spaces is nearly finished, which is very exciting. The builders have given a completion date of 2 September- so not far away!

I can also let you know that the rear playground is scheduled to be resurfaced during the September school holidays. Thank you to the Suburban Rail Loop Authoruty grant and P&F fundraising.

We really will not know ourselves next term with all our new spaces to explore!

P&F

Our latest fundraiser is here!

Please read the P&F page for details on how to support the school by purchasing Cookie dough. Orders close Monday 31 August. $4 from each bucket of dough is for the school.

Are your details up to date?

Has your child been recently diagnosed with a medical condition? Have you changed phone numbers? Moved house? Changed Visa type? Become an Australian citizen? Check out 'Office news and requests' for what information we require.

As always I encourage you to carefully read each page of our newsletter. You will find some information around Book Week,

We hope you enjoy!
