Principal's Message

Good afternoon all,

I hope you are enjoying your week.  Our year 5 and 6 students are having a wonderful time in Canberra along with myself and seven other staff and volunteers. The weather has been a little trying, but it has not stopped us from visiting some of the great sites in Canberra.  It is a very full agenda and the students (and staff) will no doubt be very tired when we return on Friday. We have been posting updates on our social media so parents can see what their children have experienced.

A reminder that we are engaging with architects Chaulk from Wangaratta who will help us develop a master plan for the school supporting our plan to facilitate the needs of our families into the future.  Parents are invited to participate in a consultation which will occur at school on Wednesday 3rd June from 4.30pm - 6.00pm.  If you would like to attend this consultation, please respond via email to cgoode@shtatura.catholic.edu.au  If you are unable to attend this consultation but would like to provide some feedback please use this link  I encourage you to provide feedback for the planning of our school.  Students and staff have already provided feedback with both groups coming up with some great ideas for the future planning of our school.

We are receiving a strong level of interest for enrolments in 2027 which is really encouraging! Existing families with children entering foundation in 2027 are reminded to complete enrolments by June 2.  Enrolments are completed online and can be accessed here:  Enrol Now – Sacred Heart Tatura

This week we will farewell Bree Petrie.  Bree has been at Sacred Heart for 7 years and has been an exceptional educator.  Bree will be working in her family business where she is very much needed at the present time. We wish Bree all the best and we are very grateful for the time she has been with us.   Kelly Hines will commence next week and will take over from Bree and share the foundation class with Bec Borzillo.  Kelly is no stranger to our students, having worked as a casual relief teacher for the past three years at Sacred Heart.  She is an experienced foundation teacher and is  looking forward to her new role at our school.

Next week on Friday 5th June our staff will be engaging in professional learning.  A reminder that this is a student free day. The following Monday is the King’s birthday public holiday and is also a student free day.  The following Friday will be a day of celebration with the Feast of the Sacred Heart.  Families are warmly invited to attend mass with our students which will be at 9.15am in our Sacred Heart Church.

Last weekend was Pentecost Sunday in our Church.  Pentecost is a time when it is recognised that the holy spirit came to the apostles and gave them the courage and strength to carry out the mission of the Church.  It is often recognised as the beginning of our Church.  The time also calls us to be disciples of Jesus and continue the work of the apostles in spreading the good news.

Breathe into me, Holy Spirit,

that my thoughts may all be holy.

Move in me, Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy.

Attract my heart, Holy Spirit, that I may love only what is holy.

Strengthen me, Holy Spirit, that I may defend all that is holy.

Protect me, Holy Spirit, that I may always be holy.

St. Augustine
