National Reconciliation Week at Bell

National Reconciliation Week, held every year from 27 May to 3 June, is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore

how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is “All In”, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. Our community of learners will be undertaking age related activities and participating in discussions to think about what this means for them and how they can commit to supporting this.

Wellbeing Update

Hello! I’m Ivy.  Many of you will know me as a classroom teacher and fellow community member, but I’m introducing myself here as the Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS) Leader at Bell. Having been in this role for a term and a half, I have had the privilege to engage in training and Communities of Practice to explore and better understand the role and how it can enhance student Wellbeing and Mental Health within our school community. I am excited to join Xenia in leading Wellbeing at Bell Primary, working in partnership to ensure all students feel safe, supported and included at school.

In this new role, my initial focus will be working closely with colleagues, students and families to:

  • Review our current whole-school approaches to wellbeing and set clear targets and goals

  • Develop clearer communication pathways around our multi-tiered approach to Wellbeing

  • Build teacher capacity in fundamental practices such as the Positive Classroom Management Strategies to enable learning through consistency and predictability.

I also continue to work with small groups of students to deliver Social Emotional Learning support.

Another initiative I am looking forward to putting into practise is making Wellbeing Updates a regular, fortnightly presence in the Bell News. Through these Wellbeing updates, I will share and celebrate how Wellbeing is being taught in the classroom and provide resources that may support you to reinforce relevant strategies and understandings at home. I also hope to utilise this regular update to seek input and feedback from our community and reflect current work being undertaken in the Wellbeing space at a whole school level.

Meet you back here in a fortnight!
