From the Principal Team

National Reconciliation Week
National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June) is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to reflect on how we can contribute to reconciliation in our workplaces, schools and communities.
The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is All In, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.
To mark the beginning of National Reconciliation Week, we will be welcoming Boori Monty Pryor for a whole-school incursion. Boori Monty Pryor is a multi-award-winning children’s author, didgeridoo player, storyteller, dancer and renowned public speaker.
Every student will participate in a session with Boori, where he will share his unique perspective on the world through stories and anecdotes from his life, alongside Dreamtime stories that provide insight into Indigenous culture. His storytelling is complemented by the music, dances and language of his family and home community. By combining traditional elements of performance with contemporary stories, Boori will help our students develop a deeper understanding of both the past and present cultures of First Nations peoples.
As part of National Reconciliation Week, students will also participate in classroom learning opportunities. These planned lessons support our ongoing commitment to reconciliation, truth-telling and cultural inclusion, while providing opportunities to continue deepening students’ understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.
Through our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), Bell Primary School formally outlines its commitment to reconciliation and truth-telling within our school community.
A reminder that the Bell PS RAP is available via our website and can also be accessed through the Narragunnawali Reconciliation in Education website.
Celebrations of Learning
Term 2 Celebrations of Learning commenced yesterday with our Grade 1 students, who proudly shared the learning they have undertaken in Inquiry this term. As part of their Geography studies, students demonstrated their dioramas exploring special places and spaces, as well as natural and constructed features. It was wonderful to see students confidently explaining their work and learning.
It was particularly pleasing to see so many parents, carers and grandparents attend the Grade 1 classrooms yesterday. These opportunities for families to engage directly with classroom learning were very well attended and continue to strengthen the partnership between home and school. We sincerely thank parents, carers and families for valuing these opportunities to engage in the classroom and celebrate their child’s learning and achievements.
All other year levels will also participate in Celebrations of Learning across the term, showcasing learning across core curriculum areas including Mathematics, Reading, Inquiry and Wellbeing.
