From the Principal

St Justin’s Primary School acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia's First People and Traditional Custodians of the land and waterways on which our school stands.

We pay our respects to the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation, and their elders past and present, and emerging as we continue to proudly live and learn on their land.

St Justin's Primary School - Celebrating over 40 years of Catholic Education

Dear Families and Friends,

Welcome back to Term 3. We hope you all had the opportunity to spend time with loved ones, and if nothing else, have a break from the school routine. This term promises to be another busy one, with many exciting events planned - Music Soiree, Confirmation, Year 4 Camp, Year 3 Extended Excursion, Book Week - just to name a few. Whilst our Annual Fair on the Hill is still some time away (Saturday 7th November 11:00am - 4:00pm) there has been an amazing amount of planning going on.

Please refer to the Fair on the Hill page for more information.

NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC stands for ‘National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Day Observance Committee’.

NAIDOC Week is a celebration held every year and lasts for one week. NAIDOC Week this year was during our school holidays on 5th to 12th July.

During NAIDOC Week we take time to celebrate the culture, history and achievements of

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Strait Islander Peoples.

The 2026 theme, "50 Years of Deadly," this year's observance marked a major milestone by honoring five decades of the NAIDOC movement and celebrating the voices, cultures, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

May we hold the wisdom of past, present and future in our hearts as we make decisions that free and empower all people today.

Creator God,

Thank you for this land.

We honour the First Peoples who have cared for it.

Thank you for fifty years of NAIDOC Week.

We celebrate the strength of culture and community.

Let us walk together with respect.

May we shine with hope and justice.

Amen

Confirmation

This term our Year 6 students will receive the sacrament of Confirmation. During Confirmation, candidates will be ‘sealed’ with the Holy Spirit. Students will explore people who demonstrate saintly qualities and hopefully gain a greater understanding of the Fruits and Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

To help prepare for Confirmation the students will attend, Confirmation Commitment Masses (next weekend), Workshop Evening, Reflection Day and Confirmation Medal Masses throughout July and August.

The Sacrament of Confirmation being held on Thursday 20th August at Good Shepherd Church (only students from St Justin's) 5.30pm.  Like anything we do in life, preparation is important. Sacraments are not a "tick" object in life, but rather part of our life journey - a journey shared with God and family.

Please keep our candidates in your prayers as they continue on their faith journey.

Please refer to the Education in Faith page for all date in relation to Confirmation preparation.

Year 4 and Year 5 Excursion - Avila and Mazenod Musical

On Wednesday our Year 4 and 5 students were given the opportunity to experience some of the opportunities that Secondary School provides, together with some insight into what it takes to put a school production together.  The Year 4's and 5's watched “Beauty and the Beast" play performed by students from Avila and Mazenod Colleges.

It was a wonderful musical show casing some very talented students, including former St Justin's students.

Fair on the Hill

Our Fair on the Hill will be held on Saturday 7th November 2026 (the weekend after the Melbourne Cup - lock it in).

Over the holidays, you might like to:

  • clean out and/or collect any books or toys
  • keep an eye out for blocks of chocoloates
  • get ready for the lucky jar donation

We are also on the lookout for acts to perform on stage at our fair. Possibilities might include dancing, calisthenics, martial arts demonstrations or any of the outside groups that our community are part of. We also have a few parents who are keen to present 405 songs, but they need support - if you or anyone you know is interested, please let Mr T know. Solo acts welcome.
