Penabur Christian School Visit
In the second last week of Term 2, we were very fortunate and blessed to welcome around 30 students from ‘Penabur Christian School’, who visited and contributed to activities in the Year 7 and 8 Indonesian classes.
During the visit, students learned about each other’s school culture and exchanged insights about both schools, including their similarities and differences. The Indonesian students also shared traditional Indonesian dances, including ‘Tor Tor‘ dance from Sumatra, ‘Maumere’ dance and ‘Sajojo’ dance from Papua.
Students from both schools participated in traditional games and cultural exchange activities. Our students showed great enthusiasm and were eager to take part in all activities.
It was a valuable and enriching experience, providing opportunities for everyone to learn from one another. A big thank you to the leadership team, teachers, staff, and students who embraced and supported this event so warmly and made it such a success.

Sustainability
Year 9 students worked on the wetland area of the north campus as a part of their wonderful service week. This area is becoming an important space for native bird species, and it was wonderful to begin planting local plants. We will keep adding to this area in the sustainability community group sessions. A huge thank you goes to Mr Jay Johnstone for running the service week for our Year 9 students.

Winter Shelter
Our Year 10 & 11 VM students continued setting up and packing down the Frankston Winter Shelter this term. They worked hard to create a safe space for clients and are learning valuable skills in volunteering and being the hands and feet of Jesus in this space.

Year 10 VM with Grade 1 and 2 students
The Year 10 VM class recently worked with Grade 1 & 2 students. They led rotating groups of activities looking at understanding Australian money, colouring in images of God’s creation and working on Math patterns. A huge thanks goes to Mrs Madura Nadarajah for allowing our students to come and visit her class.

Indonesian Day 2026
On 17 July, students celebrated Indonesian Day as part of their Indonesian studies. They immersed themselves in Indonesian culture by participating in three hands-on activities: learning Pencak Silat (Indonesian martial arts), creating a pencil case decorated with batik fabric or their own designs, and cooking Perkedel Jagung (traditional Indonesian corn fritters).
Our students made us proud with the enthusiasm, respect, and confidence they showed as they embraced each activity. These engaging experiences provided them with a deeper appreciation of Indonesia's rich culture and traditions while bringing their language learning to life.

Moonlit Sanctuary
Jess Blake (Year 11 VM) took these beautiful photos on our recent working session at the Moonlit Sanctuary. Our VM students work at Moonlit as a part of our wonderful community partnership we have with this local organisation.
Year 11 Chemistry
Water is a really cool substance, with many unique qualities about it. One of our fun pracs in VCE Chemistry is where we get to determine how much energy is released into water and using the calculations to determine this, as well as the flaws in the prac.
We also had the privilege of hearing from our peers regarding research they made. This also happened when we had the Indonesian students with us, which was a joy.

Year 8 Agriculture
A new crew of enthusiastic Year 8 students have entered the Agriculture space. This semester they will go on an excursion, help incubate some baby chickens, plant winter crops and do a few other tasks. Today, they took the resident goats for a walk as we actually had sunshine during our class-time. The goats enjoyed their outing and are hoping for more in weeks to come.
Senior Assemblies
The Seniors Leaders have really stepped up this year. They have been excellent at piecing together engaging and fun assemblies to increase cohesion and engagement between the year levels 10-12. They put on a Spicks and Specks themed competition, singing songs with lyrics from a book. They also had Jeopardy styled questions with chocolate prizes. A great team effort from them all.
