The Year 1's Step Back in Time at the Tea Tree Gully Museum

Our Year 1 students recently enjoyed a wonderful excursion to the Tea Tree Gully Museum as part of our HASS unit exploring the past and present.

Throughout the day, students experienced what life was like many years ago. One of the highlights was participating in a lesson in the old schoolroom with the very strict Mrs Carter! Students practised spelling and maths while learning about the rules and expectations 

children followed when attending school in the past.

Students also explored how daily life has changed over time. They discovered how families collected water by hand, washed clothes by hand, completed household chores without modern technology, and used old fashioned irons. They learnt about the different jobs people had in the past and how communities worked together to support one another.

There was plenty of excitement as students played traditional games, including quoits, hoops, marbles and dominoes, before exploring the museum's fascinating collection of historical artefacts, including transport, household items and tools from long ago.

We are incredibly proud of the way our Year 1 students represented Lockleys North Primary School throughout the day. They demonstrated our school values and learner qualities by showing curiosity, respect, resilience and excellent listening while embracing every learning opportunity.
