Uraidla Show Champions!Ā
We were so proud of our students over the weekend, performing on the big truck, showcasing their artworks, entering a myriad of competitions and participating in the lantern parade at the Uraidla Show. It's always such a pleasure to be part of this wonderful community event! Congratulations to all the volunteers and a big 'thank you' to Sallie and the Year 6 class for helping to clean up after the Show on our School Closure day. As I saw the families connecting with one another and enjoying the many offerings of the day, I reflected, Aren't our students lucky to belong to this community?Ā

Students vs Staff Netball
Funky Fridays have taken on another level of fun this term as Troy has started organising various staff vs student challenges. Last week the staff were triumphant in netball. Who will win next? Ā
Makers Empire parent showcase
I so enjoyed hearing from the students in the 4/5 and 5/6 classes talking about their creative projects last week at their parent showcase.Ā

Thank you!
Another tree lost! š¢š³
We were saddened to lose another of our beloved trees last week, so soon after we were forced to cut down its twin in the playground earlier this year. Luckily, it fell down on Saturday when no one was on site, and it fell cleanly with no damage. Thank you to Sara, who came in on the weekend to meet the contractors; they were able to clear it all up in time for the Show on Sunday, and now it looks like it was never there. It's so strange! Students have asked if they can research the best trees to replace the ones we've lost, and our generous Parents and Friends have offered the funds to purchase an established tree to give it a head start.Ā
Planning for 2027: Class Placement Process
It's hard to believe that planning for next yearās classes is already underway! Our anticipated class structure is: Reception, Reception/Year 1, Year 1/2, Year 2/3, Year 3/4, Year 4/5 and Year 6.
Ā
Next week, teachers will be asking students in Reception to Year 4 to nominate five friends they would like in their class next year. Wherever possible, we aim to place each child with at least one of their nominated friends.
Ā
Class placement decisions are based on a range of factors, including student wellbeing, peer relationships, learning and social needs and the overall balance of each class. Sometimes families feel concerned about their child being placed in a split (composite) class. We would like to reassure you that teaching is differentiated to meet each childās individual needs, regardless of whether they are in the lower or higher year level of the class.Ā
Ā
We have tried in the past to accommodate some parents' and carer's requests for their child's placement. However, our experience is that each request can have flow-on effects for other students, which makes the process increasingly complex and can make it difficult to ensure fairness and balance across the school. This year we will not be accepting requests for specific classes, teachers or friendship groupings. However, if there is important information about your childās friendships or peer relationships that may significantly affect their wellbeing or placement, you are welcome to share this with me in writing at margie.sarre187@schools.sa.edu.au by the end of next week, Friday November 13. While we cannot guarantee placement with or without particular students, we will carefully consider relevant information provided.
Ā
Thank you for trusting us with this process and for your support as we work to achieve the best possible outcomes for all students.Ā
