Book Week Celebration at HPS

We are thrilled to announce that the 2025 Children’s Book Week will take place in Week 5 this term, celebrating the theme “Book an Adventure!” This is a particularly special year for Book Week as in marks the 80th anniversary of this wonderful event.

Book Week offers the chance to read, create texts and develop a lifelong love of Literacy. Week 5 will be jam packed with special events including:

• special guest readers
• creative writing tasks
• a school-wide public speaking competition (more information to come)
• our whole school dress up day on Friday. 

Key dates:

• Tuesday 19 August, A special visit from famed anime artist Kenny Chan (Please check on COMPASS that you have signed up for this event.)
• Friday 22 August, Whole school dress up parade from 9:10-9:45. Families are welcome to come along to this (more information to come)
• Friday 22 August, Our Public Speaking competition finalists will have a chance to read their speech at assembly. Don’t forget there will be prizes for our winning speakers!
