Armidale Diocese Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Education Committee
The Armidale Diocese Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Education Committee gathered at St. Joseph’s Primary School for the Term 3 meeting.
The committee had the opportunity to meet and discuss the importance of partnership with NSW AECG Vice President Anne Dennis and was welcomed by the Walgett Local AECG executive.
McCarthy Catholic College - Tamworth will be the host of the Term 4 meeting.
Primary AEA Retreat - Walgett
Primary AEA’s and Leader of Learning: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education teachers gathered at St. Joseph Walgett over 2 days with focus on Connection to Country & celebration of the Culture Plans, sharing Corey Tutt - Come Home Bigabila Book for National Indigenous Literacy Day and being immersed in St. Joseph’s Primary School and the Walgett community.
The group had the privilege to be welcome by students performing the Welcoming Dance, learning from Aunty Fay Green (Elder & Cultural Knowledge holder) , Aunty Brenda McBride (Elder & Cultural Knowledge holder), Aunty Rhonda Ashby (Language Practitioner & Cultural knowledge holder ) , Uncle Jason Wilson (Narran Lake Management Committee & Cultural Knowledge holder), Aunty Mary Purse (Elder and Walgett Aboriginal Medical Service) & ACS SME: Data Ecosystem Briony Martin.
A special thank you to ACS Administration Officer Judi Wark and St. Joseph’s AEA team Sharon Pitt, Reburdah Dennis, Martika Walford and Demani Suey for organizing an amazing two days.
