Japanese Students Visit Viewbank

Japanese Students Visit Viewbank

From the 3rd until the 18th of March, 20 students and two staff from our sister school Narita Kokusai High School visited Viewbank College and took part in numerous activities at the College as a part of our Languages program.

They experienced a warm welcome from host families in our community, attended lessons with their host student, engaged with Japanese language learners in special lessons, enjoyed cultural lessons set up by Viewbank teachers and even went on excursions with Viewbank College students to build multicultural understanding and support language growth.

From the beginning of the experience till the end, teachers at Viewbank College saw Viewbank students and their families really step up to the occasion and become ambassadors to our school and the wider community. Their care and kindness that they exhibited everyday was the highlight of this experience and particularly as teary farewell were exchanged, it was very clear how important human connection and self-expression are to the language programs taught at the school.

On behalf of the College, we’d like to express gratitude to all the host families in this experience that made this opportunity possible and the teachers who contributed time and effort to go above and beyond to make this experience so meaningful.

We look forward to taking 20 students and 3 teachers to our sister school in Chiba prefecture towards the end of Term 3 and look forward to sharing more about Language opportunities at Viewbank College.
