Congratulations to this week's Bunjil award winners. Lachy, Darragh, Linc and Inara. Your commitment to your leadership roles, being responsible and spreading kindness. A positive start to the year. Keep up the great work!

Parent Volunteer Help

Thank you to parents who have already put their name down to volunteer their time for both lunch orders and breakfast club. We very much appreciate it! If you are able to add your name to the sign-up sheet, please click on the link below. All volunteers need to have a current Working With Children's Check card on record at the office.

With more volunteers this year we would love to look at extending our breakfast club to 2 or even 3 mornings per week.

Whole School Assembly this Friday

A reminder that we have our next whole school assembly scheduled for this Friday at Buninyong. As is our usual routine, we will start the day at the Buninyong campus, meeting in the courtyard at 8:45am. We will head down to the gym for assembly, then head to the library. If your child has some books to return, please bring them along.

We will bus back up to Scotsburn after the recess break, at approximately 11:45am.

SC1 Learning Snapshot

This week, students have been continuing to create narrative pieces of work. We have been including onomatopoeia words in our writing to add excitement and detail.

In Handwriting, students are focusing on letter formation, consistent sizing and neat presentation. It was wonderful to see their pride in their work when they shared it at the Assembly on Friday.

In Maths, students are beginning to explore their place value unit and developing their understanding of how numbers are represented in different ways, explaining their thinking using numbers, words and materials.

Have a great week everyone!

SC2 Learning Snapshot

This week in SC2, students have been continuing to give their best efforts through all sections of our daily routine, completing some wonderful work samples. We have had a huge focus on book work to start the year, with all students ruling up their pages and having great pride in the presentation of their work. Our daily handwriting sessions have certainly helped with this as well!

In Writing over the past week we have been working on a first-person narrative story, taking on the perspective of an animal going on an adventure. This writing stimulus has come from our work on War Horse during Reading lessons, where students have been able to learn about “painting the picture” for the reader through careful use of figurative language, including use of the 5 senses. The stories are really coming along!

We will see everyone during the week,

Jarrod and Kirsty

Division Bowls Tryouts

Students in Grade 5/6 are invited to attend two tryout sessions for Division Lawn Bowls at first break (11am) on Wednesday 4th + 11th March. Students are encouraged to attend both sessions if they wish to be selected. Please bring along P.E. shoes for these training sessions. Any Grade 5/6 students wishing to try out will be transported by Scotsburn staff for these sessions.

Physical Education

Thanks so much SC2 parents for the flexibility and patience you have shown with the Buninyong Campus PE sessions over the past few weeks. I am so proud of how our students have approached the tasks, bravely integrating into the 5/6 class we have been joining and also expressing their gratitude to Mrs Morris. Our students have given everything a red-hot go and should be SO proud! This week will be our final session with Buninyong for PE, and then we will be able to use our own facilities for all of the other athletics training we need to learn/review before the Athletics Carnival. This week will be the 1500m, so please ensure your child has a comfy pair of runners and a drink bottle!

Japanese

A massive thanks and shoutout to our fabulous volunteers Dani and Noelene, for their efforts in displaying our work in the Japanese Room. We will soon have some more amazing Year of the Horse art and craft to add to the displays, so feel free to head into the Japanese room to check it out anytime! So far, we have displayed our calligraphy and Year of the Horse puzzle, and this Wednesday our goal setting work will also be going up. If you haven’t yet met Dani and Noelene, they are an incredible help with lots of resource-making and their volunteering is such a blessing to our campus. Please keep an eye out for them on Wednesday mornings to say Hi!

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel

At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day.

We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher.
