Learning, growing and celebrating together...

Dear Sacred Heart Kew Families,

On Tuesday we celebrated our Opening School Year Mass, celebrated by our new Parish Priest, Father John Salvano, and our Assistant Priest, Father Tom Christie. It was wonderful to meet and welcome both our new priests to Sacred Heart Kew. We look forward to working with both Father John and Father Tom this year, and in the future. A special thanks to Mrs Richardson (Religious Education Leader) for organising this special celebration. The theme for our Mass was ‘Let your light shine’ and was a beautiful occasion to officially begin our school year together. We’re most fortunate to have many lights that will shine brightly here at Sacred Heart Kew in 2026. These are all switched on and ready for action.

Next Wednesday marks the beginning of the Season of Lent as we celebrate Ash Wednesday. On this day, all around the world, Catholics will stop and take stock, as we’re once again reminded that Lent is a special time, where we examine our inward relationship with Jesus and attempt to walk more closely with him. Each year, Lent provides us with an opportunity to leave the past behind, to start anew, to wipe the slate clean. We look at ways where we can be more 'hospitable' to others, through almsgiving, prayer and fasting. As a whole school we will once again come together for this important occasion. All families are welcome to join us if you’re free.

Tonight we again come together as a whole school community as we celebrate our Whole School Picnic. Thank you to our Parents’ Association members, in particular, our Year Three parents for all your hard work and organisation of what I am sure will be a fabulous school community event. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.

Next Thursday at 9.30am, we will hold our first School Open Day for the year, as we welcome and present our school to prospective families. These days are always well attended, as our Senior leaders guide families through the school grounds and buildings, sharing their knowledge and experiences of their time at Sacred Heart Kew. Our Senior leaders are very excited.

Next Friday at 2.30pm, we will present our 2026 School Leaders and Semester One Class Captains and Environmental Monitors with their badges at our special Assembly. We’re hoping for some sunshine as this event will take place out on our school oval. It’s set to be another BIG week at Sacred Heart Kew.

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend.

Kind Regards,
