Sporting Achievements
Congratulations to the following students who have had great success competing at representative carnivals -
Oliver – Named MVP at the State Touch Football Carnival
Jaxen – Named South Coast MVP at the QLD Rugby League Tournament
Noah – 1st place in the 200m & 400m at the QLD Short Course Swimming Championships
Oceanic Track and Field
Congratulations to our athletes who competed at the Oceanic Track and Field Carnival. The students all did an amazing job representing Tallebudgera State School. A special mention to Jaxen and Eva, who have qualified for the Oceanic team to compete at the South Coast Carnival. Well done!
All Schools Oztag Carnival
Well done to our four teams who represented Tallebudgera at the QLD All Schools Oztag Carnival. Over three days of tough competition, our students played with great skill and spirit. A big thank you to Mr King and Mrs Slattery for their support, both before and during the carnival. Thank you to all the parents for getting the students to the carnival and for your support throughout the event.
South QLD Netball Tournament
Our two netball teams performed incredibly well at the South QLD Netball Tournament held at Mallawa Drive. Despite strong competition, the teams showed great teamwork and determination. Thank you to Mrs Hutchins and Mrs Uttley for accompanying the students, and to Mrs Hutchins for her early morning training sessions.
Gala Day – Years 5 & 6
Year 5 and 6 students will be competing in their final Gala Day for the year in Week 8. It has been fantastic to see our teams grow and develop in their chosen sports throughout the year. Thank you to all our coaches for their time and commitment.
Bruce Fox Rugby League Invitational
Congratulations to our Year 6 Rugby League team for being invited to the Bruce Fox Cup on Tuesday 2 September. This event includes the top three teams from both the Oceanic and Broadwater competitions. Our team was selected following dominant performances across the Gala Days along with Palm Beach SS and Currumbin SS. The winner of this tournament will advance to the Southeast QLD Championship.
Palm Beach Classic – Surfing
Due to poor ocean conditions, the Palm Beach Classic has been postponed. Our surfers - Willis, Zaylah, and Kruz — are awaiting a new date for the event.
Sporting Academies
Our Sporting Academies continue to thrive, with strong participation and enthusiastic students. It’s wonderful to see so many young athletes eager to improve and develop their skills. The academies train at the following times -
- Surfing - Tuesday afternoon 3:30 - 4:30pm
- Touch football - Wednesday 7:30 - 8:30am
- Rugby League - Thursday 7:30 - 8:30am
If your child is interested in joining one of the academies, please contact Mr Marais on cmara11@eq.edu.au. Academies are available to the following year levels -
- Rugby league - Year 4 - 6
- Surfing - Year 3 - 6
- Touch - Year 3 - 6
Running Club
Running Club is happening every Friday morning from 8:00am - 8:30am in the hall. If your child is keen to join, please contact the office to complete a permission form.
