Message from the Principal

Mrs Bronwyn Underwood

Dear Parents and Carers,

St. Michael’s Attends 2026 Chrism Mass

On Tuesday, I had the wonderful pleasure of accompanying some of our 2026 ConfirmationCandidates to the annual Chrism Mass held at the Cathedral of Saints Mary and Joseph in Armidale. It was a truly communal experience, as we were joined by Fr. Damien and several of our St. Michael’s Parishioners.

The Mass, officiated by Bishop Murphy, brought together students, staff and parishioners from across the Armidale Diocese. Following the service, our group enjoyed lunch together before heading back home. A sincere thank you to Jack A, Alice (Yr 5), Thea, Evie, Hannah and Miller for representing both our school and parish with such grace and reverence.

Splashing Success at the Polding Swimming Carnival!

On Wednesday, our talented swim team—Georgia, Kahlani, Arthur, Jack S, Max C, Alex, and Chase—headed to Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre in Homebush to represent our school at the Catholic Schools NSW swimming carnival. Our students swam in the Polding Team.

We are incredibly proud of the effort and sportsmanship displayed by all our swimmers. A massive congratulations goes out to Arthur, who took home the Gold Medal in the Multiclass 50m Breaststroke! 🥇

Because of his fantastic performance, Arthur has earned a spot on the NSW Combined Catholic Schools' team. He will be returning to Homebush early in Term 2 to compete at the Primary School Sports Association (PSSA) Swimming Carnival.

Well done to the whole team, and best of luck to Arthur at the next level of competition.

Empowering Our Future Leaders: National Young Leaders’ Day

Last week, our school leaders—Alice (Yr 6), Miller, Georgia and Jet—embarked on an exciting trip to Sydney to attend the National Young Leaders’ Day at the Darling Harbour Convention Centre. Accompanied by Miss Summerell and Mrs McNair, our students joined thousands of peers from across NSW for this prestigious annual event.

The day offered a rare opportunity for our leaders to hear firsthand from some of Australia’s most high-profile figures, who shared personal stories and insights from their own leadership journeys. Our students represented the school with immense enthusiasm and pride, engaging fully in every session.

We are incredibly proud of the maturity the students showed and we look forward to making this inspiring event a permanent fixture on our annual calendar for our future school leaders!
