Student Engagement at Corpus Christi 2026
Year 3/4 Reflection
Focus: Exploring Respect and Emotions
This term, our Year 3/4 students have been busy exploring the first value of our school’s behaviour matrix – Respect.
They discussed what respect looks like, sounds like, and feels like in the classroom, completing reflective prompts such as:
● “One way I can show respect in our classroom is…”
● “I feel respected when…”
● “Respect sounds like…”
To extend their learning about emotions, students watched a short clip from the movie Inside Out, identifying the different emotions shown through actions and facial expressions. This led into a discussion about the “Ready to Learn Scale”, a tool to help students reflect on how emotionally ready they are for each day or lesson. Each student then created their own version of the scale using simple and fun visuals, such as a charging battery, a growing plant, or a weather meter. After a gallery walk and class vote, a class-ready scale was chosen and is now part of the morning routine.
Every day, students place their name on the scale, helping their teacher understand how they are feeling while also encouraging students to recognise and reflect on their own emotional wellbeing.
Our Year 3/4 students are already showing how they can be mindful of their emotions, respect others, and support a positive classroom community!
POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOR LEARNING
The weekly PBL rule is drawn from our Behaviour Matrix. Each week our children focus on a whole school rule that meets our five school expectations
This week’s PBL focus is:
We are SAFE
(On the move)
We are learning to stay in our line and walk safely on pathways.
