Camp Program

Dear OPPS families,

We are very excited to share with you the updated Orchard Park Primary School Camp Schedule. As you would know, throughout our formative years as a school, we have made a number of adjustments to our camp experiences each year. This has been due to a number of factors, including composite classes, smaller enrolments in cohorts and availability of camps. 

This schedule is the result of a deep and considered review of our camps program, with the aim of creating clear structure, rhythm and consistency for all students and families as they progress through their primary years. Camps are an integral part of childhood development—they build independence, resilience, confidence and, importantly, create the rich core memories that stay with students long after their time at primary school.

We are pleased to now have an annual, ongoing structure in place that provides consistency in both location and timing each and every year.

Key Updates to the OPPS Camps Program

A sequenced, age-appropriate pathway

Each year level now has a dedicated camp experience that builds gradually:

• Year 2:A school sleepover at OPPS – an introductory, supportive experience to prepare students for future camps.

• Year 3: A one-night camp at Gilwell Park, Gembrook – close to home and ideal for first-time campers.

• Year 4–6: A range of two-night camps with increasing challenge, adventure and independence.

Increased clarity and transparency

We are sharing the full schedule well in advance to support family planning and ensure everyone knows what to expect each year.

Consistent timing

Camps will occur at similar times each year, helping families anticipate upcoming events.

Compass timelines

• Year 6 Camp will be published on Compass shortly, providing families with the option to begin a payment plan if needed.

• All other year-level camps will be added to Compass early in 2026 to give families as much time as possible to prepare.

Financial supports

While the School Saver Bonus will not continue in 2026, families who qualify for CSEF will receive an increased allowance, which can be used to support camp payments.
