We’ve enjoyed some key events like the colour run and Grandparents Day and look forward to our Beach Safety day next week!

During English this term, students have enjoyed our Geography unit and the texts that have been associated with it. Using the Lorax and a variety of non-fiction texts, the students explore the themes of environment and sustainability and the impact humans have had on both the local and broader environment. Students engaged in many discussions about how we can be more sustainable through recycling and how waste can be managed. We have most recently been reading the Australian book Storm Boy and the students have again been very engaged in the ideas and themes of the story and the connection between the characters and the environment. We have also continued working through building our reading abilities through daily fluency practice and learning about the parts of words and their meanings through our Word Origins program.

In Numeracy, we have focused on a range of skills like Addition and Subtraction, working with Analogue and Digital clocks, reading and working with numbers beyond 10000, 2D Shapes and 3D Objects and Measuring Mass and Capacity. The students continue to demonstrate great learning skills through all lessons.

The students have demonstrated maturity during our Social and Emotional Learning sessions this term as we explored their strengths, rights and responsibilities and our individuality. This has allowed them to look at short term and long term goals and how their ‘signature’ strengths could assist in achieving them.

During Year 3 Sport, the students have continued their competitions through a variety of games and activities like Dodgeball and Pony Express. Which Grade will come out on top at the end of the term???

We look forward to all of the learning and celebrating we will explore in the last weeks of the term and year together.
