Here are just some of the sporting highlights from this term so far!
From championship glory to inspiring coaching moments, our students have tackled every challenge with skill, dedication, and plenty of school pride.
🏃♂️ State Cross Country
Congratulations to our talented students who competed in the State Cross Country Finals at Yarra Glen, going head-to-head with the 100 fastest runners from across Victoria! 🏅
Here’s a snapshot of four of our happy, smiling athletes – well done to everyone who represented Lilydale High School with such determination and pride! 🌟
🏓Senior Table Tennis
On Friday 25 July, four of our senior table tennis teams competed at Kilsyth Stadium. It was a fantastic day of fast-paced rallies and great teamwork.
Big congrats to Team LHS1 for taking out the win and moving on to represent the school at the next round on Friday, August 8!
Well done to all teams for their effort, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship!
🏀 Year 10 Sport Coaching
Miss Smith’s Year 10 Sport Coaching class has been sharpening their coaching skills with some fantastic hands-on experiences.
Over recent weeks, they’ve:
✅ Worked closely with Year 9 students at LHS
✅ Run sport activities at Rolling Hills Primary School
✅ Immersed themselves in the excitement of Hoop Time Basketball on Monday, 4 August!
At Kilsyth Stadium, 22 students coached 8 teams from Billanook Primary School — with three teams taking the win and another claiming runner-up!
The Year 10 coaches showed amazing confidence, skill, and enthusiasm throughout the day. We’re so proud of their efforts! 👏
🏐 Senior Boys Netball Team!
A big congratulations to our Senior Boys Netball team, who finished second in their pool and advanced to the Eastern Metropolitan Region semi-finals! 🏆
The boys played some incredible netball, showing teamwork, skill, and determination throughout the day. After a hard-fought battle, they narrowly went down to Balwyn High in the semis.
A huge thank you to Ms Wyatt for her fantastic coaching and support! 💪🙌
🎯 Sharp Shooters Strike Gold!
Congratulations to our amazing students who dominated at the STH East Zone School Championships (August 5) and delivered some incredible results across the board!
🏆 Riley Hughes Gage – Overall Champion with an impressive 19/20
🥇 Dylan Naylor – 1st in Senior Boys with 17/20 and a perfect 10/10 in the shoot-off.
Dylan also claimed the prestigious Eddie Bidese Trophy, outshooting the competition with a flawless 10/10 in the barrage!
🥈 Chloe Hughes Gage – 2nd in Junior Girls with 14/20
👏 Nathan Naylor – Narrowly missed a podium finish in Junior Boys after a close shoot-off, placing 4th.
And to top it all off… Lilydale High School WON the Teams Event! 🏆

🏓 EMR Table Tennis
Our Senior Girls and Boys teams had a fantastic day representing Lilydale High School at the EMR Table Tennis event held at Kilsyth Stadium.
Competing against 10 other schools from across Melbourne, our teams played three exciting rounds of competitive table tennis, showcasing skill and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Special congratulations to standout players Tilly Shore (12B) and Braeden Anthony-Digby (12E), who rose to the challenge and showed impressive improvement and determination.
Well done to all participants for their effort and commitment — a proud day for LHS sport!
🏐 Intermediate Girls Netball – EMR Runners-Up! 👏
Our Intermediate Girls Netball Team had an incredible day of competition at the Eastern Metropolitan Region finals.
In a thrilling semi-final, the girls defeated Ringwood Secondary College in overtime by just 3 goals! 🔥 In the grand final, they fought hard against Rowville but narrowly missed out on the top spot, finishing as runners-up – an exceptional achievement! 💪
A huge thank you to Ms Edwards for assistant coaching, the parents who came along to support, and to Zoe Lia and Ella for scoring.
Special mention to Chelsea and Layla, who were part of the team but couldn’t play due to injury – your loud cheering from the sidelines kept the team’s spirits high! 💛
