Ash Wednesday - Lent

On Wednesday 18th February Father Arsenio celebrated Ash Wednesday Mass with the whole school and parish community to mark the beginning of Lent. Lent is a special time when we prepare our hearts for Easter. It lasts for 40 days (excluding Sundays) and is a time for prayer, fasting, and giving to others. Many people give up something or take on positive habits to grow spiritually.

This year we have 2 main fundraising events. Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Tuesday) which was this week and the Big Walk to Water which will bring awareness to people around the world who have to travel long distances to access clean water.

Prayer for Lent

As we begin this Lenten journey,

we come before You with humble hearts.

Mark us with Your mercy and teach us to walk in Your ways.

Help us to turn from what distracts us,and draw us closer to the love of Christ.

Renew our spirits, strengthen our faith, and lead us toward Easter with hope and gratitude.

Amen.

Lent is not about achieving perfection; it’s about returning. Returning to prayer, returning to gratitude, returning to love, returning to God.

As we begin these 40 days, we can ask:

What might I lay down so I can make room for God?What might I take up that helps me love more deeply?Where is God inviting me to begin again?

May this season be a gentle turning of the heart. A time to slow down, listen, and let God shape us with kindness.
