“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” – Psalm 55:22

During my recent long service leave I had the privilege of walking part of the Camino de Santiago in Spain.  People complete this walk for various reasons but for many it is a spiritual pilgrimage. No matter where you come from to walk, what language you speak or your purpose for walking the phrase ¡Buen Camino! is traditionally used to greet other travellers.

¡Buen Camino! translates to:

  • Good way!
  • Good journey!
  • Good path!
  • May your path be good!
  • Have a good trip (on the Camino)!
  • Best wishes on your journey!

This meaningful pilgrim greeting is all-encompassing of the Camino journey. Buen Camino is a wish for a safe, healthy, enjoyable physical trip as well as a fruitful spiritual journey.  The Camino reminded me that every journey includes challenges. Psalm 55:22 encourages us to cast our cares on the Lord, trusting that He will sustain us along the way. In much the same way, our students journey through seasons of growth, learning and faith through the College values of Grace, Respect, Integrity and Courage.

Seeing and hearing these in action through student learning, communication and leadership is the ultimate goal of a Good News education. These values not only bind us together but also support and guide us throughout our journey.  It has been exciting to see what our students have achieved during Semester 1 and where they can continue to learn and grow in Semester 2.
