History
In History, our Preps have been learning about families and their own family histories. We have been celebrating the special people and connections that make each family unique. The children recently created Family Trees, proudly sharing their family members while learning to appreciate the wonderful diversity within our Prep community.

Performing Arts News
This term, the students have begun to explore the different elements of dance. They have used stories and traditional dances to inspire their own movements, working independently and collaboratively to create and perform simple dances. Students have also enjoyed using rhythm, various music genres and picture story books to create movements that depict characters. emotions and natural environments.
It has also been wonderful to see our students taking opportunities to perform in front of their peers, sharing their ideas and teaching each other different movements. Students have incorporated their understanding of energy, levels, space and relationships when creating their movement sequences and I look forward to seeing what they come up with as the term progresses, hopefully with some of them showcasing their amazing talents on stage at our Art Show next term.

Tournament of Minds
This Saturday the 15th August, a talented group of St John’s students will be travelling to Deakin University to compete against several other schools in the Tournament of Minds (TOM).
Tournament of Minds is a problem solving program for teams of students from both primary and secondary years. The tournament's aim is to enhance the potential of our youth by developing diverse skills, enterprise, time management, and the discipline to work collaboratively within a challenging and competitive environment.
Our team this year consists of Isaac, Lola, George, Vespa, Isla V, Annabelle H and Charlotte. They have chosen to present in the Language and Literature section of the competition and we are incredibly proud of the way they have worked so hard together to produce an amazing presentation titled Reel to Radio: The Ultimate Audio Drama.
We wish our team all the very best for their presentation. Regardless of the result, we are thrilled with their commitment and enthusiasm for the task and cannot wait to see the final presentation.
If you would like to come and see them in action, you are more than welcome to view their Long Term Challenge at 2pm on Saturday 15 August at Deakin University in Burwood.
