Jesus Walks on Water
‘Truly, you are the Son of God.’
In Sunday's Gospel, we heard how the disciples were caught in a storm and were filled with fear. Jesus came to them and said, "Take courage. It is I. Don't be afraid."
We all face storms in our lives, but this Gospel reminds us that Jesus is always with us. Like Peter, we are invited to step out in faith, trusting that even when we struggle, Jesus is there to reach out and lift us up.
As a school community, may we keep our eyes on Jesus, trust in His presence and find the courage to face each day with hope.
"Take courage. It is I. Don't be afraid." – Matthew 14:27
Year 1/2 Reflections - Images of God
This term our students in Year 1 and 2 have been learning about different images of God, to help them grow in understanding about God and his relationship with us.
The students have learned that the Bible is a sacred library and inside this library, the writers use different pictures of ‘word-paintings’ to help us understand who God is. Sometimes God is described as a loving parent, or a shepherd looking after his sheep.
A potter is an artist who makes beautiful creations out of clay which also explains how we are shaped by God and his connection with us.
Prophet Isaish wrote in the Bible thousands of years ago… Isaiah 64:8
Yet, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.
These are some of the creations made in class, using clay, with some sentences below, to show the childrens' understanding.
Learning Intention: We are learning to understand God as a ‘Potter’ and what this tells us about how God loves and creates us.
Success Criteria: I can define what a potter does. I can use words such as patient, gentle, careful to describe how the potter shapes clay.
Feast of the Assumption - Friday 10am Mass
This week we will celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, a special feast day in the Catholic Church. We honour Mary's unwavering faith, courage and complete trust in God throughout her life. After faithfully saying "yes" to God and following His call, Catholics believe that Mary was welcomed into heaven - body and soul. This belief has been treasured in the Church's tradition for centuries and was formally proclaimed by Pope Pius XII in 1950.
It is also a Holy Day of Obligation, inviting Catholics to gather for Mass and celebrate Mary's life and her witness of faith.
We hope you can join our whole school at 10am mass this Friday morning at St John's Church.
