Australian Masters Disc Golf Coming to Mathison Park

Masters-aged disc golfers from across Victoria will soon be heading to Churchill, with the Australian Masters Disc Golf (AMDG) bringing the Victorian Masters Series to Mathison Park Disc Golf Course on Saturday, September 5.

The Victorian Masters Series is a friendly, state-wide competition designed specifically for players aged 40 and over, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for people of all skill levels.

The event will showcase the recently installed Mathison Park Disc Golf Course, which has quickly become a valuable new recreational asset for the Churchill community. Developed in collaboration with Latrobe City Council and VicHealth, with ongoing support from the Friends of Mathison Park volunteer group, the disc golf course has been designed to cater for both beginners and experienced players. Free to play, the course offers a fun and accessible way to enjoy the outdoors, while adding another exciting attraction to the park for locals and visitors alike.

Between rounds of the Victorian Masters Series, AMDG will host a free “Come and Try” session from 11.30 am to 1.00 pm at Mathison Park. The session is open to people of all ages and abilities, providing the perfect opportunity for anyone who has been curious about disc golf to give it a go. Experienced players will be on hand to provide discs, basic instruction and guidance throughout the session. Easy to learn, affordable and suitable for the whole family, disc golf is a great way to combine fun, fitness and community.

Parking and Road Safety Reminder

With the term underway, we would like to remind families of the importance of road safety and appropriate parking around our school. From 28 January, Local Laws officers in conjunction with Victoria Police have been conducting patrols around schools during pick-up and drop-off times, focusing on speeding, mobile phone use, and parking compliance. We kindly ask all parents and carers to adhere to all road rules, observe parking restrictions, and drive with care to help keep our school community safe. Thank you for your cooperation and ongoing support.

Smile Squad isn’t visiting your school right now, but you can still access this high-quality service, completely free of charge.

You can visit Latrobe Community Health Service at their community dental clinic. Please contact the team at any time on 1800 242 696 to book an appointment. Just let them know you would like to book a Smile Squad appointment.

myLearners Free Driving Lesson

Help your learner get on the road with a free driving lesson!

The myLearners Free Driving Lesson program offers a FREE 60-minute Lesson with a professional driving instructor for learners aged 16–19 who have completed 10–30 hours of driving practice. The lesson is taken alongside their supervising driver, helping both the learner and supervisor build safer, more confident driving habits together.

This program supports families by making the learning experience more positive and less stressful. It aims to reduce crash risks for young drivers, strengthen supervising skills, and encourage safer driving behaviours early on all at no cost to participants.

Latrobe Urgent Care Unit

The Latrobe Priority Primary Care Centre (PPCC) has be renamed and is now known as the Latrobe Urgent Care Clinic (UCC).

This is a name change only; the current service offering and operating hours remain the same. The newly-named Latrobe UCC will continue to provide GP-led care for those in need of urgent care but not an emergency response. It will be open seven days a week, from 8am to 10pm, at 42-44 Fowler Street, Moe.
