Year 6 Camp 2026 – Camp Kookaburra
What an absolutely fantastic way to finish Term 1 for our Grade 6 students! From Monday 30 March to Thursday 2 April, our Year 6s headed off to Camp Kookaburra for an unforgettable four days full of adventure, laughter and friendship. For many students, this camp has already become a highlight of their final year at our school.
Each day was packed with exciting activities that challenged students to try new things and step outside their comfort zones. From aiming for the target in archery, to working as a team in the initiative course, balancing on the low ropes, climbing to new heights at Kookaburra Heights, and taking on the thrill of the giant swing — there was something for everyone. Canoeing was another favourite, with lots of smiles (and a few splashes!) along the way.
When it was time to relax, students enjoyed a range of fun free-time activities including swimming in the pool, playing tennis, competing in the gaga pit, giant chess and table tennis, or spending time together in the activities room. A special highlight was Mr Palamara’s very popular karaoke sessions, where students (and teachers!) showed off their singing talents.
Evenings at camp were just as memorable. Mr Pollard’s traditional night walk, complete with stargazing and his well-known dad jokes, was a big hit with everyone. We were also very lucky to have Shirley with us, who took wonderful care of our students, always ready to help with any bumps and bruises and to support everyone’s wellbeing.
We are incredibly proud of our Grade 6 students. They showed great resilience as they took on new challenges and pushed themselves to try unfamiliar activities. Just as importantly, they demonstrated outstanding behaviour throughout the entire camp and built strong friendships by supporting and encouraging one another.
Camp Kookaburra was truly a fantastic experience for everyone involved, full of fun, growth and special memories that our students will carry with them as they continue their final year at primary school.
Below are a few quotes from our students sharing their favourite moments.
