What's been happening this week?

SCIENCE TIME!

The Year 3/4 students recently took part in an exciting and hands-on Science experiment investigating how different materials melt at different rates. During the activity, students compared how long it took for chocolate, butter, and ice cubes to melt under various conditions.

Before beginning the experiment, the students made predictions and discussed the different factors that could affect the speed of melting, including temperature, sunlight, and contact with warm surfaces. They then carefully observed the changes in each material and recorded their findings.

As part of their learning, students applied their understanding of the three ways heat is transferred — conduction, convection, and radiation — and explored how each type of heat transfer contributed to melting the chocolate, butter, and ice cubes.

The experiment sparked curiosity, thoughtful discussion, and plenty of excitement as students worked like young scientists to test their ideas and explain their results. It was wonderful to see the students actively engaging in scientific thinking while building their understanding of heat energy in a fun and practical way.

PLANTING!

Our 1/2s are each growing three plants as part of their Sustainability unit - a flower, a vegetable and herb.  We can’t wait to see them grow!

FOOTY FUN

The 1/2s join in on their second footy rotation this week and had fun practising kicking, hand balling and catching. We have also begun planting!
