In September, our Dance students headed to the Arts Centre Melbourne for a truly memorable experience: Bangarra Dance Theatre’s newest work, Illume.
Choreographed by Frances Rings, Illume weaves light, culture and Country into a powerful contemporary dance work. As Australia’s leading Indigenous dance company, Bangarra brought exceptional cultural insight and artistry to the stage, with striking imagery and bold movement that had our students captivated from the first moment to the last.
The performance was a rare opportunity, with Bangarra opening their doors for a special school-only show. Our dancers left inspired and looking forward to more opportunities to watch their incredible dancing.
In October, we celebrated our Semester 2 Dance performance evening, showcasing the talent and creativity of students across our Dance programme.
Our Year 11 VCE Dance class performed their learned work alongside original solos, while Year 9 students presented both their learnt and self-devised group works. Dance Club also took to the stage with two beautifully contrasting works, one contemporary and one lyrical, developed throughout the semester.
The night was a wonderful success, filled with energy and artistry. A special highlight was welcoming back several 2025 Year 12 VCE Dance graduates who returned to support and share in the celebration.
