Student Leadership
Term 4, 2025

This year, the student leadership body came together to organise our annual RUOK Day fundraiser, a day that recognises the importance of checking in with one another. We arranged a series of events in the library that consisted of a musical performance, as well as a range of activities directed by the wellbeing team, including a positive message wall and a colouring-in station.
It was wonderful to see so many students come together to support one another at this event, especially during the musical showcase. The library was designed to be a welcoming space for students to come and connect with one another, and enjoy the music that was on offer.
In addition to these activities, we saw students arrive in free dress and also held a barbeque at lunch time, with profits donated to the RUOK Day fundraiser. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of establishing connections, and being able to talk about our own experience with mental health and wellbeing. The organisation’s objective is to promote suicide prevention by equipping us with the tools we need to kick start a conversation, starting with the words “are you ok?” We’re proud to announce that as a school, we were able to raise $1,400, something that we can all be very proud of. Until our next RUOK Day fundraising event, we hope you take the initiative to check in with your loved ones, because RUOK Day can be everyday.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our final Casual Dress Day for 2025. As a school community, we collected more than 1100 cans and packages of non perishable goods for Southern Peninsula Food for All. These items will be included in food hampers that support local households during the festive season.
Southern Peninsula Food for All President Alan Hawkins visited the College today to meet with our 2026 College Captains and collect the donations from the fundraiser. It was a clear reminder of the practical impact that even small contributions can make.
Thank you again to all students, staff and families involved for helping strengthen our connection with the local community.

Dromana College is delighted to congratulate Ethan Tangatatutai, one of our 2025 Year 10 Captains, on receiving the third annual Nepean Shield. The award was presented on campus by Sam Groth MP, who joined us to acknowledge Ethan’s outstanding contribution to student leadership.
Ethan has been a dedicated and energetic member of the SRC, consistently championing student voice and helping to facilitate a range of year level and whole school initiatives throughout 2025. His commitment to strengthening our school community has made a meaningful impact, and this recognition is very well deserved.
We extend our thanks to Sam Groth for visiting the College to present the award and for his continued support of young leaders across the region. We are incredibly proud of Ethan and look forward to seeing his leadership journey continue to grow.
