Mackillop Way Walkers

How it Works

Some families opt to drop off and collect from a gate at Mackillop Way. This is St Peter's College Gate Number 5. We offer a supervised walking access from this gate through a pedestrian gate at the rear of St Thomas The Apostle.  This gate is particularly useful for families collecting children from both our school and St Peters.

The gate is open STRICTLY ONLY at these times and will have a staff member visible:

8.30am to 8.45am in the mornings

3.15pm to 3.30pm in the afternoons

Staff have responsibilities elsewhere before and after these times. The gates will be locked and children cannot enter St Thomas' from the rear gate. If you are running late in the morning please use a main entry point.

There are staff positioned at key points on the walking route. There is no shelter on this route and well prepared students have a hat, rain jacket or umbrella in their bag. Children enjoy this experience as a daily adventure with sun and rain. Talking with friends is a real bonus.

Children are walked by school adults to this gate and supervised until all are collected. If parents are later than 3.30 then students will be walked back to school and collected from the school office.

Staff on Mackillop Way Walkers are wearing hi-vis and have a walkie-talkie. They will use this to communicate to the office in case of students mixing up their pick up location.

The drop off for this gate is available from 8.30 until 8.45 when the gate is locked.

Pick up at this gate is available from 3.15 until 3.30 when the gate is locked.
