Car Line at St Thomas
Kiss and Drop Line
Some parents opt to drop their child through our car line.
In the morning staff on duty supervise as parents stop and drop in the car line designated space. Car line must move smoothly and allow several hundred of cars during the morning drop off. Please follow directions from staff.
Where possible cars turn right into the car line in front of the school. If the area is already busy you may be directed to drive along Denis lane (internal road) and go around the roundabout and come back along Denis lane to allow cars to be removed off the public road and prevent delays for traffic.
When dropping your child, parents remain IN the car. Goodbyes and kisses should be brief. Students are very quickly independent at exiting the car safely. Bags should be within the car ready to pick up (adults on supervision duty can assist lifting a bag for a very young or injured student).
If you need to put bags in the boot of the car please keep your child/ren in the car until you get to the top of the car line (#1 painted before the crossing) and there you can allow your child to safely get the bag out.
After School Car Line - 3.15 to 3.30
In the afternoon parents enter the car line and use Denis Lane to be safely waiting off the public road.
Foundation students will be brought to the car line and supervised while they wait. Older children will make their way to the car line and join them.
At 3.15 staff in hi-vis jackets will come to ask your child/rens names. They will walkie talkie to a staff member inside the Nook area to call for the children over a microphone. Children will exit the gate and then wait for your car to stop moving before getting inside.
Child Safe tip - if children do NOT know or feel comfortable with the driver collecting them the teacher will bring the car to the top of the line and a member of leadership will support the child and contact the family to ensure that correct pick up process is occurring.
