What a wonderful time we had at the Spanish Fiesta!

Fluency Reading with our partners.
In Year 1, we have been trying something a little bit new with our reading fluency. Instead of taking timed turns to read the whole text at once, we are tracking along with our partner and taking turns to read our sections. If we finish reading the whole text we then switch our sections and read it again. This has been great for improving our tracking and has helped us stay super focused and ready to read.

We love reading books in our amazing library. It is really exciting that as our knowledge of sounds and spellings grows, we can read so many more books in our library and use our skills to decode tricky words!

We have been continuing our geography unit and putting our new skills to work to map our school. We have learnt how some maps need a key to show us what symbols mean when we look at the map and that we need to use the compass to make sure we are drawing the features of our map in the correct orientatiuon.

In Phonics we have been learning about the 'oo' sound as in b/oo/k. We have learnt that you can make this sound with three different spellings.

The Year 2s had a CERES Incursion learning about Restoring the Earth's Ecosystems.
