We near the end of Lent with this coming Sunday marking the beginning of Holy Week in the Church's calendar. The parish of St Mary's has a number of services to pray through these various events. You are most welcome to attend. See the parish newsletter for dates and times.
St Patrick's Day Celebrations
“Christ beside me: Walking in the footsteps of Saint Patrick."
Members of our Faith and Social Justice Team caught the train to St Patrick's Cathedral on Fri 20th for a special St Patrick's Day Mass in the city. They joined a packed Cathedral of students who were participating from all across the Melbourne Archdiocese in celebrations for Catholic Education Week.
The team also ran a St Patrick's day craft and sports activity on St Patrick's day that was enjoyed by all.
At the beginning of Lent, Pope Leo suggested that we "cultivate kindness and respect in our families, among our friends, at work, on social media, in political debates, in the media and in Christian communities. In this way, words of hatred will give way to words of hope and peace." The end of Lent is a good time to reflect back on these words and ask ourselves how have we put them into practice. It's never too late for cultivating kindness!
Project Compassion
The Project Compassion theme for 2026 is "Unite Against Poverty".
Children are encouraged to bring in small change to place in their "Project Compassion" donation box in their classroom.
