Student Voice Team

Primary Dream & Lead Conference
Dream and Lead is a one-day, highly engaging event designed to support primary school students in discovering their leadership potential, whilst providing them with strong foundations to succeed. Throughout the day, our Year 6 captains participated in purposeful activities, developing their problem-solving skills and increasing confidence and independence.
Facilitated by internationally-trained young leaders, our students were given the opportunity to recognise the impact they can create as young people.
Student Voice Team Update
Our Student Voice Team (SVT) representatives have been busy gathering feedback from classes across the school. Here are some highlights of our meetings so far this term.
Foundation/Year 1/Year 2
Our junior students are already showing a great awareness of their school environment, with suggestions focusing on -
- keeping our school clean
- opportunities for additional ‘house’ sports days
They also shared thoughtful ideas around wellbeing and choice. They would love -
- more sensory spaces to support regulation and focus
- more variety in canteen ‘over counter’ options
- lunchtime club opportunities, such as a ‘craft club’.
Years 3-6
Students in Years 3-6 focused strongly on playground improvements and sustainability, and offered a wide range of practical and thoughtful ideas.
Suggestions included:
• Improvements to soccer areas and upgrading sports equipment
• New play spaces such as a sandpit, swings, and a gaga pit
• More seating and buddy benches
• Environmental initiatives like rubbish collection days, compost bins, and a veggie garden
• Bike rack upgrade
• More inclusive and accessible wellbeing supports, such as smaller sensory spaces
• Expanded canteen options, including more hot food and drink variety
• Fun initiatives such as slushy machines, and more lunchtime activities like teacher vs student competitions.
They also showed interest in additional community-building activities, such as teacher-versus-student games. Our next steps will include prioritising our list and meeting with Mrs Kubeil and Mrs Short to discuss where and when we can implement some of these improvements/initiatives.
