Sci Tech

Hi families,

Over the past few weeks in SciTech, students across the school have been building their understanding of key scientific concepts through engaging and practical learning experiences.

Our Year 3 and 4 students investigated magnets, with a focus on understanding magnetic polarity and how magnets interact. They explored which everyday items are magnetic and non-magnetic, making connections to objects commonly found around the home. This helped students develop their observation skills and deepen their understanding of how magnets work in real-world contexts.

Our Year 5 and 6 students explored electrical circuits using an online simulator. They built and tested circuits while investigating how different components—such as resistors, capacitors, fuses and inductors—affect the flow of electricity. Students observed how these changes impacted the ability to power everyday items like a light globe, strengthening their understanding of how circuits function.

All students were assessed on their understanding and knowledge throughout the term, demonstrating their ability to apply what they have learned in both practical and digital contexts.

It has been wonderful to see students continuing to demonstrate our school values by working collaboratively, showing perseverance, and treating each other with respect throughout their learning.

Kind regards,

Mr Greg Patterson
