LOOK WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING IN AUSLAN AT MPHPS

Hello everyone,

We’ve had a fabulous fortnight in the Auslan classroom. I’ve especially enjoyed watching students confidently practise the signs they’ve learned and show such enthusiasm for their learning.

SIGNS OF THE WEEK

Don’t forget to ask your child to show you some of the Auslan signs they have been learning. Over the past fortnight, we have been revising many of the signs that we have learnt to strengthen students’ confidence and recall.

Our Signs of the Week are ‘Japan, ‘India’, and 'Italy’. We encourage you to practise these at home together!

IN THE CLASSROOM

Years 3 – Students will continue to consolidate their knowledge of the Auslan signs related to emotions, while focusing on learning signs related to Animals.

Year 4 – Students will continue to build their understanding of words and short sentences related to fruit, while expanding their knowledge of Auslan signs associated with directions and places.

Year 5 – Students will continue to strengthen their understanding of Auslan signs related to countries while further enriching their vocabulary and signing skills by learning signs associated with different aspects of travel.

Year 6 – Students will continue to consolidate their understanding of Auslan signs related to describing a famous person of their choice and then comparing similarities and differences with another famous person of their choice.
