This Term in Music
Term 3 has so far been action packed as we continue to inspire young minds through music. Our Juniors are starting to build their confidence through song and movement using Danny GO, as well as starting to learn the fundamentals of the piano through composition.
Our Seniors are exploring Instruments of the Orchestra by learning the various instrument families found in the Classical Orchestra, exposing them to instruments and music they have not experienced before.
Our choir continues to grow in musicality. In addition to their beautiful renditions of our call and responses and Hymns for our Masses, they are exploring more complex songs to broaden their horizons. This is exciting as we already begin to prepare for our performance opportunities in term 4, especially at Christmas time.

Learning Space 2 Junior News!!!
We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Sofia, who won gold at the Australian Ju Jitsu Championship 2026, held last week.
This remarkable accomplishment is a wonderful reflection of Sofia’s dedication, discipline, perseverance and commitment to excellence.
Well done, Sofia, on this wonderful achievement! The hard work and dedication has truly paid off.
We were also delighted to announce Dilwaris’ remarkable talent and dedication at A Day with GS HEER, held in Melbourne on 15 - 16 August.
Dilwaris proudly showcased his cultural heritage through a vibrant and captivating cultural dance performance. His confidence, energy and commitment shone throughout the performance, reflecting not only his hard work and preparation but also his deep connection to culture and community.
Well done to Dilwaris for representing our community with such pride, passion and enthusiasm!
Learning About Hygiene Through Information Reports
This week, students have been developing their understanding of information reports through the engaging topic of hygiene. Students explored the importance of keeping our hands clean, brushing our teeth and maintaining clean environments to help prevent germs and bacteria from growing and spreading, which can make us sick.
Students have been highly engaged in learning about healthy hygiene practices and discussing ways they can keep themselves and others safe and healthy.
It has been wonderful to see students building their knowledge while developing their writing skills and confidence in presenting information clearly.

SENIOR SPORTS
Grade 5/6 Sport
Today, our Grade 5/6 students competed against Hampton Park Primary School. They performed admirably and demonstrated commendable sportsmanship throughout their various sports. Congratulations to all the participants from Grade 5/6 for their efforts today. They are enhancing their understanding of strategies to improve their gameplay, which will contribute to their confidence and preparedness for the upcoming Lightning Prem later this term.
The Interschool Sport, Grades 5 and 6 students will be participating in one of the following sports: Cricket, Tennis, Basketball, Handball and Softball Five games and a lightning premiership against local schools have been scheduled. The schools we are playing, dates and locations for these events are as follows:

DISTRICT ATHLETICS
A total of 41 students were selected to join the St. Francis de Sales Athletics Team. Their enthusiasm to compete against fellow students for a place on the District Athletics Team was clearly visible.
Trials took place throughout Term 1, specifically on Thursday afternoons. Once they secured their positions on the team, their joy was unmistakable. Training sessions were conducted weekly throughout Term 3, culminating in the event on Tuesday August 18th where our students competed against other schools in the district at the Casey Fields Athletics Track in Cranbourne.
For some participants, this was their inaugural competition, and they exhibited a mix of excitement and nervousness. I was stationed at the score table, and those students who received ribbons for their placements expressed great satisfaction with their accomplishments. Although I endeavoured to contain my enthusiasm, there were moments when it was simply unavoidable.
Regardless of whether they secured First, Second, or Third place, the paramount lesson was to relish the experience, and I am confident that each student did just that. to all our students! St. Francis DeSales Primary School achieved an impressive eighth place overall, competing against ten schools in our district. Well done, and let us commend their dedication and perseverance in giving their best effort.
A huge thank you to parents Louise, Pricilla, and Emily for assisting on the day and helping with the students. It's also good to see them supporting our students. We have 4students that will progress to the next stage of Athletics, which is Divisional.
Divisional Athletics will occur at Cranbourne Athletics Track on Monday 14th of September,

JUNIOR SPORTING EVENTS
JUNIOR ULTIMATE FRISBEE CLINICS
Students had a great time on Monday with Josh and Lachie from DS Sports.
The students learnt some new skills learning how to throw the frisbees to each other. We have three clinics left. Please ensure your child is wearing their sports uniform and has their drink bottle on the following days.
Reminders will also be placed in Afternoon Reminders.

GRADE 3/4 AND LS2 JUNIORS CRICKET CLINICS
Grade 3/4 students and LS2 Juniors had a great time with Tom from Cricket Victoria today. Lots of new skills were learnt and we had visitors from the Lynbrook Cricket Club.
We would like to thank Cricket Victoria for this opportunity. If your child enjoys the session during school, you can continue their cricket experience by joining the Lynbrook Cricket Club. A flyer with information was sent home today.

Students had an awesome time at their first after school Auskick Program. We would like to thank Tyler from AFL for organising the program and Jonah for running the clinic.

Students attending may wear their sports uniform to school on Wednesdays.
To pick up your child, please enter via the gates off the car park near the hall. If your child is going to after school care after the Auskick clinic the coaches will take students there. If it’s raining the session will be held in the Hall. Please enter the Hall door to collect your child at 4.20pm Parents are most welcome to stay and watch.
TERM 4 SWIMMING
Swimming will take place in Term 4 beginning in Week 1. Thank you to all the parents who completed the nForma permission form so promptly. If you have not yet given permission please do so promptly as I need to provide final numbers.
Parents who have volunteered to assist the juniors in the change rooms, I will be checking that your Working with Children Check is current and registered with the school office. I will then organise a briefing session prior to the end of term which you will need to attend if you would like to assist in the change rooms.
Swimming timetables have been uploaded onto the nForma permission form as an attachment. Please print it off and ensure you have it available at home. Parents please note you are welcome to attend Casey Leisure to view your child’s lesson but photographs and videos are not allowed and only parents I have contacted will be able to assist in the junior change rooms.
A reminder to parents that swimming is an important part of the PE curriculum and all students are expected to attend. It’s imperative that students know how to keep themselves safe around water. If there is a medical reason your child cannot attend, you will need to provide a medical certificate for your child to be exempt. They will then remain at school in another Learning Space.
