In ALL four Literacy areas tested in Year 3 and Year 5 our results exceed the State and National results.

Our Literacy results in all areas continues to be a strength, with results that have consistently trended above the state mean for the last two to three years.

Numeracy will be an area of focus for us. While over the last three years by Year 5 we make the gains to be at (2023) and in 2024 and 2025 above the the state level, this year our Year 5 mean was 4 points lower than the State mean. Our trend results show that despite a slower start in Year 3 we make the gains by Year 5 in Numeracy to be at or above the state. However, we want to get our starting point higher than it currently is on the 2026 Year 3, NAPLAN tests so that we can consistently be above the state mean in all areas tested.

The MACS Vision for Learning and the MACS Vision for Engagement are informing a refinement of our pedagogy and practices. The focus on explicit teaching that includes full participation strategies aims to enhance consistency across the school and lead to improved outcomes. As part of this school improvement focus our teachers video their mathematical teaching session and engage in personal and team reflection. They also receive feedback and engage in professional learning to enhance their teaching and the learning of the students.

I am very proud of our staff and students. We have a committed and professional team that continues to improve. Our students are highly motivated and regularly commit to doing their best and reflecting our school expected behaviors. St Francis de Sales is a great place of learning and a place we all love to come to each day.

I will be on leave from next Monday and Angela Faiola will be Acting Principal in my absence. There are lots of FUN activities to conclude this term from Book Week to Fathers' Day and to our annual AFL day before the Grand Final. Enjoy the weeks ahead as hopefully the weather continues to warm up ready for Spring. May you team win. I have my fingers crossed for the Mighty Magpies!! I look forward to seeing the SFS community ready for the start of an exciting Term 4 to conclude the year.
