Sustainability

At South Melbourne Primary School we are part of the Victorian Government’s ResourceSmart Schools program, led by Sustainability Victoria.

ResourceSmart Schools supports schools to embed sustainability into teaching and learning, school operations and community connections. It provides practical resources, professional development and guidance to help schools reduce waste, save resources and create positive environmental change.

ResourceSmart provide advice and resources for us to use to strengthen our Sustainability initiatives at SMPS, such as resources for environmentally friendly purchasing and waste collection.

Our goal is to work towards 5 Star Certification, which recognises schools that have strongly embedded sustainability across all areas of school life. We will continue to share updates about our sustainability journey through the school newsletter, website and app. If you would like to get involved, please contact Miss Bec at rebeccanewman@smps.vic.edu.au.
