What's Happening In
Performing Arts?
Hello, my name is Paula Di Ciocco, I am the Performing Arts and Italian teacher at Mackellar Primary School. Music has been a very important part of my life. I really enjoy playing guitar and singing and I am grateful to share my creativity and passion for music, and my Italian cultural background with my students.
Term one has been a wonderful opportunity to explore performing arts in an energetic, exciting and encouraging environment to learn various styles of music, culture and performances.

The Grade Preps have been learning about Nursery Rhymes and singing the songs to the actions, “You Are My Sunshine”. We have enjoyed reading the story about Pinocchio with drama games and we also had Pinocchio the puppet visit us.
Grade 1/2 – Students enjoyed singing along to Ciao and What a Wonderful World both in English and Italian. We have learnt how to keep a steady beat through movement, using percussion instruments and playing the Xylophone.
Grade 3/4 – This term we have explored various styles of music, singing songs, “Che Tempo Fa”, Stand By Me and the Beatles cover, “Here is the Sun”. We learnt how to play the Ukulele and play percussion instruments for rhythm. Students worked in pairs to compose a Harmony song about Harmony Day and perform their performances in front of the class.
Grade 5/6 – We have been singing, composing Harmony songs, performing and creating digital music to showcase creativity and originality. Students learnt music theory to understand and appreciate music, how to play the Ukulele and percussion instruments.

The Mackellar Primary School Choir performed at Harmony Day “Che Tempo Fa” (What is the weather like). Students interested in joining the choir, we meet on a Tuesday at lunch times for rehearsal practice.
Look forward to many more performances!
Ciao for now
Miss Paula Di Ciocco
