Week 2: Footscray West students keep their learning spaces ready for learning

At our school, we show responsibility by helping to keep our learning spaces tidy and ready for everyone. When our classroom is organised and free from distractions, it is easier for us to focus, learn, and feel calm. We all have a part to play in creating a space where everyone can do their best learning.

We can do this through the small choices we make each day. We put resources away when we have finished using them and return them to the right place. We keep our desks, tables, and floors tidy, and help clean up shared spaces even when no one has asked us to. We push our chairs in, leave our bag lockers clean and take care of shared spaces with other grades. We also make choices that help everyone stay focused, like using the right voice level, staying in our learning space, and avoiding unnecessary movement or distractions.

Being responsible means thinking about how our choices affect other people. If we are moving around the room while others are working, or making noise when someone is trying to concentrate, it can make learning harder for them. We can ask ourselves, “Is my choice helping me and others to learn?” When we all take responsibility for our learning environment, we create a calmer and more enjoyable place to learn.

This week, look for ways you can help keep our learning spaces ready for learning. Are you putting things away when you finish? Are you making choices that help others focus? Could you notice something that needs tidying and take responsibility for helping? Small choices like these make a big difference to our whole school community.
