School Council

At St Kilda Park Primary School, our School Council plays a vital role in supporting and guiding the work of the school. All Victorian government schools are required to have a School Council, which works in partnership with the Principal to help shape the strategic direction and governance of the school.

School Council is responsible for a range of important areas including approving the school budget, overseeing school policies, supporting long-term planning and facilities projects, and helping ensure that our school continues to provide the very best learning environment for students. Council also plays an important role in representing the views and aspirations of our broader school community.

At SKiPPS, our School Council is made up of 9 parent members, 4 staff members and a community representative from SKiPPA, our parents’ association.

Council meets ten times throughout the year, with meetings focused on discussion, decision-making, strategic planning and oversight of school operations. These meetings provide an important opportunity for collaboration between parents, staff and community members, helping to ensure strong governance and a shared commitment to the success of our school.

School Council Meetings

Importantly, all School Council meetings are open meetings and members of the school community are always welcome to attend.

Our next Council meeting will take place in the staffroom at 6:30pm on Wednesday 24th June.

Sub-committees

Alongside the full Council meetings, much of the detailed work of School Council takes place through a number of sub-committees. These groups of parents and staff work together on specific areas of school operations and improvement and make an enormous contribution to the life of the school. Parents are welcome to join any sub-committees or attend meetings whenever available.

Our current School Council sub-committees are:

  • Finance Sub-Committee
  • Buildings and Grounds Sub-Committee
  • Education and Policy Sub-Committee
  • Fundraising Sub-Committee

Upcoming sub-committee meeting dates are:
