Feeding the Poor

Our Year 7 students demonstrated their commitment to service and social justice by giving back to the community on Saturday morning. They spent their time preparing and serving food to disadvantaged and marginalised members of our community, showing compassion, generosity, and care for others.

During the Month of Mary

During the Month of Mary, we welcomed Mary into our classroom and sought her intercession as we prayed a decade of the Rosary together. This special time of prayer helped us grow in faith and deepen our connection with Mary and her Son, Jesus.

Pentecost Mass 

Our school community gathered to celebrate Pentecost, a significant feast in the Church's calendar marking the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. Through prayer, scripture, and reflection, students were reminded of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the importance of living as disciples of Christ in our daily lives. We thank our students, staff, and families who joined us in this special celebration and pray that the Spirit continues to guide and inspire our community throughout the year.

Prayer Time

Every Friday at 2.30pm Sr Irene provides an opportunity in St Elias Chapel for parents and staff to gather and reflect on the Sunday Gospel. It is a special time of prayer, reflection and discussion, to deepen one’s knowledge of Scripture and their own spirituality.

Year 5 Reflection Day 

Our Year 5 students enjoyed a meaningful Pentecost Reflection Day focused on the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit. Through Mass, spiritual talk, prayer, Lectio Divina, and service to others, students deepened their faith and reflected on how they can live as disciples of Christ.

A special highlight was creating encouragement cards and visiting residents at a local nursing home, sharing kindness, joy, and God's love in action.

May the Holy Spirit continue to guide our students as they grow in faith, wisdom, and service.

Social Justice Mass

Our recent Year 7–12 Social Justice Mass was a meaningful and reflective gathering that brought our school community together in faith and solidarity. Students and staff took the opportunity to reflect on the importance of compassion, dignity, and action in our daily lives, inspired by the values of the Gospel.

Through prayer, readings, and student involvement, the Mass highlighted the call to stand up for justice and support those in need, both within our community and beyond. It was encouraging to see students actively engaged, demonstrating a genuine commitment to making a positive difference.

We thank all those who contributed to the organisation and participation in this special celebration. May we continue to put our faith into action as we strive to build a more just and compassionate world.

Pentecost Novena

Our primary and secondary students were encouraged this year to prepare for the awesome Feast of Pentecost by praying a Novena to the Holy Spirit. The novena text was shared with all secondary students via Teams, and most Religion classes visited the chapel at least once during the ten-day period. All other classes were also invited to participate using a specially prepared PowerPoint presentation with reflections.

Providence Program

The Year 11 displayed their spirit of service and engagement with the wider MCHF family throughout semester one. The Primary Helpers on a Thursday afternoon have been consistently assisting students with their craft, literacy

 and other learning activities. Other students worked on posters to promote our Catholic faith or participated in engagement activities during term 1. We look forward to acknowledging Bronze Award recipients soon. 

Year 9 Religion

During Term 2, Year 9 students deepened their understanding of the Sacrament of Reconciliation through an engaging session with Fr Anthony El-Kazzi LMO. Through role-plays, thought-provoking discussions, and interactive question-and-answer activities, students explored the power and significance of this sacrament and were encouraged to reflect on how its lessons can be applied in their own lives.

Y11 Growing in Faith series 

The Year 11 cohort participated in a series of talks during their Spiritual Studies classes in term 2. The topics included:

• The Seven Deadly Sins and Virtues with Fr Charbel Dib
• Mary Our Mother and Salvation with Fr Ron Hassarati,
• The Theology of the Body Re-visited with Tom from Donum Ministries.
• Students were encouraged to write their prayer intentions and to attend the morning Mass in the St Elias Chapel during the Pentecost Novena and for the month of June.

4 Violet taking the Sacred Heart of Jesus to next class

 Year 4 is passing the Sacred Heart of Jesus to the next class. The Sacred Heart reminds us of Jesus’ love and kindness. We hope it helps the next class to follow Jesus by being caring, respectful, and kind to others every day.

Grandparents Mass & Morning Tea

We were delighted to welcome so many grandparents and special guests to our Grandparents’ Mass and Morning Tea. The celebration was a beautiful opportunity for our community to honour the important role grandparents play in the lives of our students. The Mass was reverent and heartfelt, with students participating proudly in readings, prayers, and hymns.

Following the service, families gathered for a relaxed morning tea, sharing conversation, memories, and plenty of smiles. It was wonderful to see our students spending meaningful time with their loved ones.
