Congratulations to our Spelling Bee Champions! 

A huge congratulations to our two students, Adonia and Anthony, who made it to the State finals.  Your dedication, determination and love of learning have truly paid off. We are incredibly proud of you!  

We would also like to congratulate every student who participated in the Spelling Bee. Taking part in a competition like this requires courage, preparation and perseverance, and you should all be proud of your efforts.

You are all winners in our eyes! 

Celebrating Our Young Readers: Premier’s Reading Challenge

A huge congratulations to all of our students who took on the Premier’s Reading Challenge and committed themselves to reading the number of books stipulated. What an achievement! 

We are so proud of every student who challenged themselves, persevered and made time to discover new stories, characters, ideas and worlds through books.

At the end of the day, it is not about the competition or who reads the most. It is about participation, perseverance and, most importantly, the enjoyment of books. 

We hope you continue to nurture your love of reading and maintain the joy that comes from getting lost in a wonderful book. May you always be curious, adventurous and excited to turn the next page!

Keep Reading and Learning at Home!

Dear Parents and Carers,

We encourage families to make time each day for reading, listening, speaking and writing. Everyday experiences provide wonderful opportunities to build literacy skills and develop a love of learning.

 Listening

Read stories aloud or listen to audiobooks together.

Ask your child to retell what they heard.

 Reading

Encourage daily reading and let children choose books they enjoy.

Visit the library and read signs and notices when out and about.

 Writing

Encourage children to write shopping lists, cards, stories or in a journal.

Let them see you writing for everyday purposes.

 Speaking

Talk about your child's day and ask questions.

Encourage them to explain their ideas and learn new words.

 Learning on the GoCar journeys and family outings are great opportunities for learning. Read signs, play word and rhyming games, listen to stories, and talk about what you see and experience.

Most importantly, keep literacy fun and meaningful. A few minutes of reading and conversation each day can make a big difference.
