Building Bridges Across Generations 

Our Grade 6 Social Justice Leaders visited BUPA Aged-care Community as part of our school program, creating opportunities to connect, listen, share and learn from older members of our community.

Through conversation, kindness and shared experiences, students are learning that social justice begins with respect, inclusion, dignity and caring for others. These meaningful connections remind us that every person has a story to share and a valuable place in our community.  

Grade 6 Students Reflect on Their Visit to Bupa Aged Care:

The Preferential Option for the Poor is a core principle of Catholic Social Teaching. We have learnt to prioritise the needs of the most vulnerable and marginalised. Just like the Good Samaritan who stopped to help the stranger in need, we stopped to comfort those who may feel isolated. 

I really liked talking with the elderly, comparing how our lives are so different. I also really loved singing with Colin and bonding with the elderly. Overall, I enjoyed spending time with the elderly. (Lucas)

I liked the aged care visit, it felt nice to do something for the elderly in our community. I hope we made some people's day a bit better.

Our time at BUPA Aged Care was really enjoyable. The staff and residents were great. We shared some of our interests and sang songs with them. We gave them a little token of appreciation after we sang, 'We are the World'.

Thank you Mr Tran and Mr Van Boxtel for organising this wonderful trip that we will fondly remember.

End of Term Prayer

Loving God,

As we come to the end of another term we ask for your many blessings on our learning, friendships and experiences we have shared as a community. We pray that You watch over all our students, families and staff during the holidays. Keep everyone safe as they travel, play, explore and spend time together. May our homes be filled with peace, joy, laughter and love.

 We also pray for our dedicated staff. May this break provide them with the opportunity to rest, recuperate and recharge, so that they return refreshed and renewed for Term 4.

May Your loving presence be with us all throughout the holidays and bring us safely back together.
