Warra Gnan Coastal Camp
2/3/4 Edenhope College and Goroke P-12
4th – 6th June, 2025
On Wednesday in the morning we all came to the bus and loaded our stuff in the trailer. Then at 9:00am we started driving to Warrnambool, we talked until we got to Hamilton. We went to the playground and toilet. We played there for about 20 or 30 minutes. When we got to Warrnambool it started raining and we went inside.
We had lunch then Mitch told us what we were doing. Then we set up our beds. It was all the Edenhope boys together and the girls were together, same with Goroke. Then we were talking in our room and put our warm clothes on.
Then we went for a walk and Mitch showed us a bridge called Edwards Bridge. The river is called Merri River and it’s 31kms long. Then we walked to a place which was an old fish aquarium. Then we looked at a breakwater thing at the sea. After that we walked and played beach games. It was very cold.
Then we went back and played in our room and talked. Next, we went to the showers and waited in our rooms and had dinner.
In the morning, we got ready for the day. Mitch told us what we were doing. My group did fishing first. Jack was the only one that caught a fish. We did that for 1 hour then we had morning tea. Then we did the amazing race and my team won. We got the best time there’s ever been.
Then we did the gps challenge. We were doing it around Warrnambool and we got to go on the big slide. Then we did leadership games. Me and Robert won a couple. Then we had showers and dinner and we did a quiz. Then we watched the end of 'Oddball' and went to bed. In the morning, we had free time and had lunch and then we went home.
Camp was amazing.

Wednesday afternoon:
After we set up our cabins we went to Edwards Bridge. Then we went to the old aquarium, and we also saw a real penguin nesting box. After that we went to the breakwater, we took some photos where all the rocks were. Then we went for a walk along the beach, had a sandcastle competition and noughts and crosses in real life!
Then we walked to a little area and we had afternoon tea there. When we got back to camp, we had dinner, we got dressed into our jim jams (pyjamas) and we watched half of 'Oddball' and went to bed.
…….. Fishing was a lot of fun, but the only person who caught a fish was Jack from Goroke school. Ella S nearly caught a fish but when Mrs M pulled her line in, the fish tugged so hard that her line snapped.

Thursday
Everyone woke up and started getting ready for the day. Then we went down and had breakfast. For breakfast we had a choice of cereal or toast. We split into two groups. I was in group 2 so I went to go to an amazing race first. In the amazing race we had to get into teams and there were questions about Warrnambool Lake. The questions were like “how many water holes are on the whale?” so we had to sprint to the whale and count. You had to have a group name as well - my groups name was the Stars.
……For dinner we had Spaghetti Bolognese. After dinner we had a bit more free time and then we had a trivia night. There were themes like book characters and all around Warrnambool. After trivia we watched the rest of 'Oddball'. I had a great time on camp. I would go again if I could!! By Zoe Hartas
On Thursday Mitch did rotations. We did the amazing race, fishing, GPS challenge and leadership games.

Jack from Goroke caught a fish but I don’t know what sort it was. I had a wonderful time on camp. - Dusty Colgate
Primary Tree Planting
On Tuesday the 10th of June we went out to Elise Kealy’s. We started planting trees in a back paddock and we planted around 200 trees. They were stringy bark trees, desert and Bull Oak. We planted these trees to help save the cockatoos as they are fussy eaters and prefer these types of trees. After lunch Elise brought a lamb, she said she could not find its mother, so it had a natural bond with Dusty, and wouldn’t leave him. Everyone enjoyed getting out there and planting some trees.
