Standard 4 of the Victorian Child Safe Standards focuses on family and community engagement in promoting child safety and wellbeing. It requires organizations to actively involve families and communities in decisions affecting children and to maintain open communication about their child safety practices.

As part of our commitment to Child Safe Standards, our school continues to ensure that all staff and volunteers are well trained and supported to keep children safe and promote their wellbeing.

At St Joseph’s, we actively support child safety and wellbeing through:

  • clear policies and behaviour frameworks that guide positive and respectful interactions
  • a shared Code of Conduct for staff, students, and families
  • participation in National Days of Action to promote awareness and community responsibility
  • regular Fortnightly BLITZ check-ins that strengthen student voice and wellbeing
  • implementation of the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program
  • dedicated Wellbeing Week activities that nurture connection and care
  • ongoing staff training to ensure best practice and shared responsibility

Together, these practices strengthen our shared responsibility to ensure every child in our community is safe, valued, and supported.
